South Florida Exposure Station

South 45°

For nearly 50 years, a colorful display of panels coated with Kynar 500® resin-based coatings has been stationed in Southern Florida, standing up against decades of stifling heat and humidity, rain, wind and dust. Thanks to the exceptional protection of Kynar 500® PVDF coatings, these "Crown Jewels" of Kynar 500® have maintained their original bright color and sheen.

Shanghai Grand Theatre

Shanghai, China

Erected in 1998, the Shanghai Grand Theatre has staged over 6,000 performances at its state-of-the-art facility, including operas, musicals, ballets, symphonies, concerts, dramas and more. Inside, the landmark building has several theatres, including the 1,800 seat Lyric Theatre, a 600 seat drama theatre and a 300 seat studio theatre. Outside, the building's distinct and beautiful design is protected from weathering, pollution and fading thanks to PPG Industries' Duranar® coatings featuring Kynar 500® resin.

Las Olas River House

Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Erected in 2004, The Las Olas River House in Fort Lauderdale stands at 452ft (138m) tall, complete with hundreds of residences, a rooftop garden and a fitness center. The structure, which is located downtown, is made up of 2 identical outer towers and a smaller central tower. PPG Industries' Duranar® Colonial Blue coatings featuring Kynar 500® PVDF resin have kept the River House looking bright and vibrant after over a decade in the hot Florida sun.

One Metropolitan Square

St. Louis, Missouri

Designed by architecture firm Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum and erected in 1989, One Metropolitan Square is the tallest building in St. Louis and the second tallest building in the state of Missouri. Thanks to Duranar® coatings from PPG Industries featuring Kynar 500® resin, the building maintains its exterior beauty and stands as an icon of the downtown St. Louis skyline more than 25 years after its construction.

The Petronas Towers

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Located in Malaysia and standing at 1,483 ft. (451.9m) tall, the Petronas Towers are the tallest twin towers in the world. The towers were the tallest buildings in the world for 6 years (1998 - 2004), and dominate the business district skyline of downtown Kuala Lumpur. The buildings, coated with PPG Industries' Duranar® coatings featuring Kynar 500® resin, have lost none of their shine after nearly 2 decades in a climate known for high average temperatures and 2 monsoon seasons per year.

Eurotunnel Exhibition Centre

Coquelles, France

For metal architecture, few elements are more detrimental and corrosive than sea salt and spray. For the Eurotunnel Exhibition Centre in Coquelles, France, this is a constant threat due to its close proximity to the English Channel. Thanks in part to Kynar 500® resin, the structure's exterior is protected from harsh water and salt spray. With steel profiles coated with Duranar® coatings from PPG Industries, The Exhibition Centre serves as a welcome center for visitors traveling beneath the English Channel from the UK to France.

One Liberty Place

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

In June, help us celebrate One Liberty Place, which is the second tallest building in Philadelphia at 945 feet tall (61 stories) and was coated by PPG Industries in 1987 to protect against fading and peeling. The skyscraper's design was heavily influenced by the Chrysler Building and provides office space to a variety of tenants in Center City, Philadelphia.

Shanghai Harbour Ring Plaza

Shanghai, China

Erected in 1997, the iconic Harbour Ring Plaza stands 584 feet above Shanghai, China and serves as a commercial office building. Coated by PPG Industries, the skyscraper’s aluminum curtainwall and aluminum panels feature Duranar® Fluoropolymer coatings. Highly resistant to chalking, chipping, peeling and fading, and other environmental stressors like dirt and acid rain, the coatings are based on Kynar 500® PVDF technology.

One Oxford Centre

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

PPG Industries' Duranar® coating was used to protect one of the most recognizable features of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's skyline – One Oxford Centre. Built in 1983, One Oxford Centre is 615 feet tall and features 46 floors. The building’s aluminum curtainwall and aluminum panels were coated with the Kynar 500® resin-based Duranar® coatings to promote durability and keep the metal looking vibrant and appealing for years to come.

Toranomon Hills

Tokyo, Japan

In March, we acknowledge one of the 5 tallest buildings in Japan and the tallest in Tokyo. Completed in June of 2014, Toranomon Hills is a monument to the downtown Toranomon district. The horizontal battens and vertical fins were coated with a Kynar 500® coating as a form of protection against weathering and aging. The building includes a hotel, private residences, offices, conference spaces, retail tenants and parking for nearly 550 vehicles.

La Grande Arche

La Défense, Paris, France

In February, we recognize a unique and iconic building that pays homage to the famous Arc de Triomphe of Paris. Built in 1989 and located in La Défense, a prominent business district outside of Paris city center, La Grande Arche has maintained its finish thanks in part to PPG's Kynar 500®-based metallic pewter formulation, which coats the building's aluminum paneling.

The Renaissance Center

Detroit, Michigan

In January, we're celebrating the beautiful Renaissance Center, built in 1976 and located in downtown Detroit. Several of the buildings within the Renaissance Center have window extrusions protected by PPG's Duranar® Light Gray and Bronze, formulated with Kynar 500® resins.
