Why Fluorosurfactant Free®?

In recent years, perfluorinated surfactants, such as perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and higher related homologues, which have been commonly used in the manufacture of some fluoropolymers, have come under scrutiny by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). These perfluorinated surfactants are subject to a U.S. EPA voluntary stewardship program that seeks reductions and eventual elimination of emissions and product content levels. Arkema is an active participant in this program.

In fact, Arkema produces Kynar 500® PVDF using a patented fluorosurfactant-free (FSF®) process. This means that no fluorosurfactant of any kind is used.
